I never use my road bike and a bunch of dudes at work go mountain biking often. So I shined up my road bike and completed a quick and successful craigslist transaction. We all know that they are as rare as Bigfoot, but I got paid in cash, kept all my organs, and didn’t encounter one Nigerian prince!

Kinja'd!!!

Two nights ago I listed it for $450 on CL, LetGo, and my local Facebook sell group. Yesterday A guy from CL offered $300 and said he would pick it up that night. I accepted and put in an order for the hard tail below on the way home yesterday.

Kinja'd!!!

It won’t be in until Monday. I can’t wait to get it!

Any others mounting bike dudes/ladies?

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to the club. Prepare to be broke and injured all the time (or is that just me?)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We need a cycling kinja blog...does anyone know how to make that happen?

I’d no problem selling my junk to a Nigerian prince or buying a Nigerian prince’s junk.

Haha man, making me jealous with the 9. I actually wanted the 8 but they couldn’t get one. Apparently Trek is really on point with their supply chain, so they’re out of the 2018's and 2019's don’t even start coming out until June. The tubeless ready wheels were a big selling point and will be expensive to add later, but I’m well versed on changing tires from the roadie so I’ll see how it goes.

I’m used to being broke via hobbies. I jump in with both feet when I get into something new. So says all of my rock climbing, skateboarding, longboarding, surfing, snowboarding, and running gear. Also cars.

I’m running a 10 miler in a week so I’ve got to be careful until then. After that its on haha.

Yea and I didn’t even know tubeless was a thing until I went to the bike shop haha. Like any good sales guy, he made me feel like I “had to have it”! I think the also has a nicer drive train, but I’m currently riding someone else’s schwinn from 15+ years ago. So I’m sure I’ll love the new bike.

im sure you will :)

sides the drive train will wear out sooner or later... soo thats a pretty easy upgrade somewhere down the line.. far as i can tell the frame and brakes are identical (well... yours are 3 years newer)

Now we need to start an injury list - what happened, damage done (both bike and personal), recovery time/costs.

Wait, you said “broke” and I thought you meant “broken.”

I guess both apply.

I use to actually work at Trek, so good choice on the bike! I’m new to mountain biking but I love my ‘18 X-Caliber 7.

Thanks, I’m also new to mountain biking. I’ve been in the past but not with any frequency.
